Average Jane Crafter’s mad-for-Legos son had a Lego-themed birthday party this weekend. My kids and I wanted to do something special to wrap his presents. I am never happy with the choices for buying wrapping paper at the store. I prefer plain paper that I can decorate myself. We used brown wrapping paper, Crayola poster paints, and Duplo Legos to make this printed paper. In order to make the print, we first put paint on the top of the lego to make the circle print. To make the block portion of the print, we flipped the Lego over and printed the outer square “on top” of the circles.

So fun. I have been writing a blog about gift wrapping and found this post while doing research.
This is a very nice idea! I made some wrapping paper with a kid friend, but we just used good ol’ markers to decorate: http://thegiftedblog.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/wrap-story-mini-assistant/
I have a baby and am really looking forward to future projects with him when he is old enough. Thanks for sharing!
Hi
where can you buy plain wrapping paper?
I got the plain paper at Target.
I just found your site via a google search. Thanks for the great tips! What a great idea! And your son did a fabulous job on the video 🙂
Thank You!
Great idea! My son loves Duplo, so for his birthday treats I did some googling and found your tutorial! We’ve made cool treats together and the stamping was the best part. I wrote a guest-dad-blog about it (in Dutch :-)) http://www.moodkids.nl/sitecore/content/Website/Blog/Gastblogger_-_Papa_Jaco_-_Zelfbouwtraktatie.aspx
Thanks so much!
My son just helped me make this today. Thanks so much for the awesome idea!! We had lots of fun 🙂
